The weather is calling for rain on my party date. What are my options?

This is one of the toughest challenges we deal with in the bounce house rental industry.  Rain can ruin a party, but often, rain only lasts a half-hour of so.

Due to the designs of bounce houses, combo units, and other inflatable products, when it rains hard enough, the water will "pool" in certain areas and create a mess.  Jumping in water-logged bounce houses is no fun for most kids.

At Blast Off Bouncers, we set up our bounce houses with an extra heavy-duty tarp to cover it in the event of rain.  Our inflatable moonwalks and combo units are manufactured with a deflation zipper on them to help deflate them in seconds.  At delivery, we will set up the tarp in such a manner that it will only take two to three minutes for two people to deflate the unit and cover it with a tarp.  And we will show you how to do this when we deliver and set up the inflatable product.

Once the rain stops, all you will need to do is pull the tarp off of the inflatable so that all of the rain water runs away from the inflatable.  Just turn on the blower and the kids are ready to jump again.

Some companies will advise you to just leave the bounce house inflated if it rains.  However, rain often comes with high winds.  Even if the unit is staked to the ground, it can still fly away.   My guess is that by time, you have already signed the contract that states you are responsible for damages to the inflatable product, which means you will now need to go outside in the wind and rain and deflate the bounce house.  When you re-inflate it, you will certainly have puddles of water to either towel off or the kids will jump in the puddles and be soaking wet.

By comparison, putting a tarp over a bounce house may seam like a pain in the butt, but it is much easier in the long run since you will not have to deal with a drenched bounce house or drenched kids.  We will keep you party simple, safe, and fun by providing a tarp to cover the inflatable in the event of rain.

On some occaisions, however, rain will not be scattered, or, even if it is, you may not want to rent a bounce house if there is a chance the rain will persist for the majority of the party time.  If that is the case, we will happily cancel your reservation without any repercussions.  We do take a $50 deposits at the time the reservation is made, but we will gladly refund the deposit should rain be an issue for your party.

On a brighter note, let's just hope for good sunny days for all of the parties this spring and summer and hope we do not have to deal with the rain.
