Cancellation Policy for Bad Weather

We are often asked what our cancellation policy is for bad weather (i.e. high wind and rain).  The policy is not "cut-and-dry."  Therefore, we just want to clarify things a bit here.

WIND
There are plenty of videos and news stories about inflatables "flying" away in the wind.  Our inflatables are rated for winds up to 20mph.  Wind is to be taken very seriously as it can cause property damage and bodily injury.  Although cancellations due to high wind are rare, when we do cancel, a 100% refund is given on any amount paid to us in advance.

If the weather forecast is calling for 15mph wind with gusts up to 30mph, for example, we cannot rent our inflatables that day due to the potential danger.  However, there have been times where the weather is calling for gusts up to 25mph and we have delivered.  The only way we would deliver in these circumstances is if there are natural obstacles (such as a 2 story home or heavy woods in the backyard) that will be blocking the wind such that the wind speeds will not reach over 20mph in the set-up location.  Once the predicted wind gusts are over 25mph, we will not deliver due to safety reasons.  We will then either reshedule or issue a refund on the amount paid to us at the time the reservation was made.

RAIN
Water on our inflatables (especially the ones that are meant to stay dry) can be very detrimental to our equipment due to the potential for mold growth.  Although we do provide a waterproof tarp to cover our equipment in the event of rain, the equipment is often covered after the rain starts or is not covered completely such that the equipment still gets wet.  In the Summer months, this is not a big issue as the temperatures are high enough that we can set up the equipment to dry on the following day or two.  In the Spring and Fall months, we have to be careful about renting on rainy days as the weather forecast may not allow us to dry the units.  For example, if the weather forecast is calling for steady rain on a Monday and Tuesday and our inflatable gets rained on on a Sunday, the unit may become moldy by the time we are able to dry it on Wednesday.  In a circumstance like this, we have to be very careful on our decision to deliver inflatables when the prospect of being able to dry them is limited.

There are days when the weather forecast is calling for light mist or light rain showers for the majority or a good part of the day.  This is another time when we will likely cancel.  It does not matter how hard the rain is falling as inflatables become very slippery in rainy conditions which can cause children to slip and fall and, therefore, contribute to the possibility of injury.

Conversely, there are days where the weather is calling for an isolated storm during the middle of the day.  On a day like this, we generally do not have a problem delivering inflatables as long as the customer agrees to cover the inflatable with the tarp provided by us.  Again, the tarp will keep the inflatable dry and safe for use once the rain stops.  The waterproof tarps are easy to use.  It generally takes 2 people about 2 minutes to cover the inflatable (once deflated) and about 1 minute to uncover it once the rain stops.  On a day when rain is likely and we are delivering inflatables, we will show at delivery how to deflate the inflatable and cover it with the tarp.

If you do have a reservation and the forecast is calling for rain, we will call you either the day before or the morning of your rental to find out if you would like to cancel your reservation.  Please note that we do not offer discounts if it rains during your rental as this is outside of our control.  The weather is only predictable to an extent.  We therefore do not accept cancellations with a 100% refund more than 24 hours in advance due to adverse weather conditions as the weather forecast/conditions may change.

Due to the unpredictability of weather conditions (i.e., severity of a rain storm, predicted duration of rain, etc.) it is difficult to adopt a clear-cut weather cancellation policy.  Blast Off Bouncers LLC reserves the right to determine the weather conditions under which we will cancel and issue a refund of the deposit paid.

Please keep in mind that if you do cancel more than 24 hours in advance and the weather conditions change, we will likely be unable to rent that unit to another party which is the reason why you would forfeit the $50 deposit ($100 deposit if your order is over $400).

Finally, remember that we are in the business of making parties fun.  We do not like cancelling on anyone due to weather or any other reason.  Without rentals and deliveries, it will be impossible for us to stay in business.  It is in our best interest to do the best we can at satisfying our customers while keeping safety as our #1 priority.

NEW PRODUCTS FOR 2013

We have added some cool products for 2013 rentals!  Check them out below.  Don't be afraid to let us know the items that you wish we had in our rental inventory.

36' Double Lane Tropical Slip N Slide

Our 36 foot long, dual lane slip n slide provides a tropical theme which is perfect for any water-based inflatable rental.  It is set up with a soaker hose running along the top which drips water onto the sliding surface.  Two people can run and jump onto this unit and slide into the large pool at the end.
This unit will just guarantee an awesome time for not only the kids at the party, but the adults as well.  I personally cannot wait to try it out.  Click here for pricing and availabilility.

Giant Jenga / Tumbling Towers

You may have seen this at The White Rhino bar & restaurant in Dyer.  It is simply a blast to play.  When set up on a standard table, this Jenga game will reach heights so high that you will have to stand on a chair to place a piece on the top.  Watch out when it falls though!  As large as it is, it makes a lot of noise when the tower crashes to the ground.  This is perfect for graduation parties or any other party where the adults could use some entertainment of their own.  Click here for pricing and availability.

Cornhole / Baggo

Almost every summer party we deliver to either has cornhole games set up with lines of people waiting to play or they wish they had some at their party.  These cornhole sets are not the "cheap" thinly made units that you would find at a discount store.  They are solidly made with a nice smooth surface.  Click here for pricing and availability.

Mini Cornhole / Baggo

At $9 per rental, you cannot go wrong with these units.  These are great for the kids to play or for the adults who want to play on a table top or in closer quarters.  They measure 15.5" long x 8" wide and come with 2 sets of miniature bags.  Click here for pricing and availability.

Fill N Chill Table

This table is just cool!  Really, it keeps your beverages and cold trays cool and accessible to the guests at your party.  Ice is not included, so make sure you buy a few extra bags.  When the ice melts, it drains to the center of the table.  A bucket should be placed underneath to collect the water.  The guests at your party will be happy they do not have to dig through multiple coolers and tons of ice to grab the drink they want.  Click here for pricing and availability.

We have some other products that are new as well:

We look forward to another successful year.  Do not hesitate to call us at 219-310-1310 with any questions.  You can also email us at blastoffbouncers@gmail.com.  We hope to see you in 2013!

HAVE A SPECIFIC INFLATABLE IN MIND? TIPS ON GETTING THE UNIT YOU WANT.

Do you have a theme for your party?  Or does your child want a specific bounce house, combo unit, or water slide?  Getting exactly what you want can be difficult if it is not reserved far in advance.

We have already started getting reservations for August.  Our water units (pictured at left and right) seem to be the most sought-after items from mid-June until the end of August.  If you have a specific date and unit in mind, we suggest reserving at least 2 months (or more) in advance as there are few companies in Northwest Indiana that rent water units due to the amount of work involved with them and the short "hot" season.

We are just starting to get reservations for party tents for graduation parties.  If you are looking to have an outdoor party in late May through early July, we suggest reserving a tent as soon as possible as we are confident that we will be completely booked during that period as well as the majority of our competitors.

Bounce houses are a different story, and you can probably get by with reserving 1 to 2 weeks ahead of time unless you are looking for a particular unit.  If your party has a theme (for example, a tropical theme) and you are only looking for a tropical-themed bouncer, then you should reserve as soon as you know the date of your party.  It can be difficult getting the exact moonwalk that you want unless you reserve well in advance.  However, if the style doesn't matter, you should easily get by with reserving 1 to 2 weeks in advance.  Last year, we had a rental where the renter took our Birthday Cake Moonwalk even though the ocaision was not a birthday, but it was all that was available.

Regardless, if you are planning a party this Spring, Summer, or Fall, don't forget to reserve your inflatable bounce house, combo unit, or water slide with sufficient time to spare.  On the flipside, if your party is a last-minute ordeal, call us to see what we have available.  You may get the luck of the draw and find out that the unit you really wanted is available, even at the last minute (but don't take your chances unless you have to).

We hope your party is a blast and we hope to be a big part in making it fun!

GRADUATION PARTIES ARE RIGHT AROUND THE CORNER

As we approach the beginning of April, our schedule will begin to fill up quickly.  We'd like to take this opportunity to let you know that we are now renting 20' x 20' high peak frame tents as well as inflatables.  Our tents can be joined to make a 20' x 40' tent.

Our high peack frame tents look classy, are brand new this year, and with only 4 posts, they eliminate unwanted obstacles.

We also offer rental of 6' rectangular tables and folding chairs.  Don't forget about our bounce houses, combo units and waterslides.

Call us or reserve online today before the majority of the tents in the area are reserved for the date of your graduation party.  We will certainly offer a discount for rentals of multiple items on the same day (for example, a tent rented along with a bounce house on the same day).  It would also be wonderful for you to eliminate the number of vendors you will be coordinating with on the day of your big party.

Our Water Slides have also proven to be a complete hit at graduation parties where a lot of friends of the graduate will be there.  It provides endless entertainment.

Regardless if you rent from us or someone else, we hope that you have an awesome graduation party.

The weather is calling for rain on my party date. What are my options?

This is one of the toughest challenges we deal with in the bounce house rental industry.  Rain can ruin a party, but often, rain only lasts a half-hour of so.

Due to the designs of bounce houses, combo units, and other inflatable products, when it rains hard enough, the water will "pool" in certain areas and create a mess.  Jumping in water-logged bounce houses is no fun for most kids.

At Blast Off Bouncers, we set up our bounce houses with an extra heavy-duty tarp to cover it in the event of rain.  Our inflatable moonwalks and combo units are manufactured with a deflation zipper on them to help deflate them in seconds.  At delivery, we will set up the tarp in such a manner that it will only take two to three minutes for two people to deflate the unit and cover it with a tarp.  And we will show you how to do this when we deliver and set up the inflatable product.

Once the rain stops, all you will need to do is pull the tarp off of the inflatable so that all of the rain water runs away from the inflatable.  Just turn on the blower and the kids are ready to jump again.

Some companies will advise you to just leave the bounce house inflated if it rains.  However, rain often comes with high winds.  Even if the unit is staked to the ground, it can still fly away.   My guess is that by time, you have already signed the contract that states you are responsible for damages to the inflatable product, which means you will now need to go outside in the wind and rain and deflate the bounce house.  When you re-inflate it, you will certainly have puddles of water to either towel off or the kids will jump in the puddles and be soaking wet.

By comparison, putting a tarp over a bounce house may seam like a pain in the butt, but it is much easier in the long run since you will not have to deal with a drenched bounce house or drenched kids.  We will keep you party simple, safe, and fun by providing a tarp to cover the inflatable in the event of rain.

On some occaisions, however, rain will not be scattered, or, even if it is, you may not want to rent a bounce house if there is a chance the rain will persist for the majority of the party time.  If that is the case, we will happily cancel your reservation without any repercussions.  We do take a $50 deposits at the time the reservation is made, but we will gladly refund the deposit should rain be an issue for your party.

On a brighter note, let's just hope for good sunny days for all of the parties this spring and summer and hope we do not have to deal with the rain.

Inflatable Safety

Bounce House Safety:  Is it worth the extra price?
The number one question we get when someone calls about one of our inflatable products is price-related.  We cannot blame anybody for trying to save a couple bucks when renting an inflatable bounce house, combo unit, or water slide.  And we would bet that you will be able to find someone that is willing to beat our prices.

One thing to consider, however, is safety.  Now, you may be asking, "how is your bounce house safer than anybody else's?"  The truth is that, in most cases, our bounce houses are no safer than the next guy's.  The safety we provide is in a proper set up of the bounce house, the brand of blower we use, and the safety training we give at delivery.

Blast Off Bouncers LLC has an added expense of safety training and insurance.  Many start-ups in the inflatable moonwalk business do business without insurance, safety training, or filing the necessary paperwork with the state.  If an accident occurs, they can simply attempt to disappear.  We have received specific training on the correct set up of inflatable bounce houses.  Many of the bounce house accidents you have heard of were due to storms with high winds or simply just a gust of wind blowing the bounce house away.  Our units are properly staked to the ground (sandbags are used on concrete set-ups).  In the event of high winds, we will show you how to quickly deflate the bounce house to avoid accidents.

Also, our insurance company requires that we use strict standards with regards to setting up inflatable bounce houses, combo units, and slides.  Our insurance company also mandates that we thoroughly provide the customer with our safety recommendations to ensure that the kids have a great, safe time.

We recently learned of a bounce house rental company that listed on its website that 10 kids can jump in a 13' wide x 13' deep bounce house.  Those of us that are safety-minded know that 10 kids in a bounce house this small is a recipe for injuries to occur.  Kids need enough room to jump and fall down without contacing other children.  Ten kids in a 13' x 13' bounce house is just too many.  It is obvious that this company did not have safety training nor did it have insurance (as an insurance company would not insure a company that lists a capacity of 10 kids in a 13' x 13' bounce house on its website).

We have priced our inflatable units to be competitive.  If we did not have the training or insurance, we could certainly charge less, but our first priority is safety and we hope that our customers appreciate it, even if it means paying a few more dollars for a rental.
