Cancellation Policy for Bad Weather

We are often asked what our cancellation policy is for bad weather (i.e. high wind and rain).  The policy is not "cut-and-dry."  Therefore, we just want to clarify things a bit here.

WIND
There are plenty of videos and news stories about inflatables "flying" away in the wind.  Our inflatables are rated for winds up to 20mph.  Wind is to be taken very seriously as it can cause property damage and bodily injury.  Although cancellations due to high wind are rare, when we do cancel, a 100% refund is given on any amount paid to us in advance.

If the weather forecast is calling for 15mph wind with gusts up to 30mph, for example, we cannot rent our inflatables that day due to the potential danger.  However, there have been times where the weather is calling for gusts up to 25mph and we have delivered.  The only way we would deliver in these circumstances is if there are natural obstacles (such as a 2 story home or heavy woods in the backyard) that will be blocking the wind such that the wind speeds will not reach over 20mph in the set-up location.  Once the predicted wind gusts are over 25mph, we will not deliver due to safety reasons.  We will then either reshedule or issue a refund on the amount paid to us at the time the reservation was made.

RAIN
Water on our inflatables (especially the ones that are meant to stay dry) can be very detrimental to our equipment due to the potential for mold growth.  Although we do provide a waterproof tarp to cover our equipment in the event of rain, the equipment is often covered after the rain starts or is not covered completely such that the equipment still gets wet.  In the Summer months, this is not a big issue as the temperatures are high enough that we can set up the equipment to dry on the following day or two.  In the Spring and Fall months, we have to be careful about renting on rainy days as the weather forecast may not allow us to dry the units.  For example, if the weather forecast is calling for steady rain on a Monday and Tuesday and our inflatable gets rained on on a Sunday, the unit may become moldy by the time we are able to dry it on Wednesday.  In a circumstance like this, we have to be very careful on our decision to deliver inflatables when the prospect of being able to dry them is limited.

There are days when the weather forecast is calling for light mist or light rain showers for the majority or a good part of the day.  This is another time when we will likely cancel.  It does not matter how hard the rain is falling as inflatables become very slippery in rainy conditions which can cause children to slip and fall and, therefore, contribute to the possibility of injury.

Conversely, there are days where the weather is calling for an isolated storm during the middle of the day.  On a day like this, we generally do not have a problem delivering inflatables as long as the customer agrees to cover the inflatable with the tarp provided by us.  Again, the tarp will keep the inflatable dry and safe for use once the rain stops.  The waterproof tarps are easy to use.  It generally takes 2 people about 2 minutes to cover the inflatable (once deflated) and about 1 minute to uncover it once the rain stops.  On a day when rain is likely and we are delivering inflatables, we will show at delivery how to deflate the inflatable and cover it with the tarp.

If you do have a reservation and the forecast is calling for rain, we will call you either the day before or the morning of your rental to find out if you would like to cancel your reservation.  Please note that we do not offer discounts if it rains during your rental as this is outside of our control.  The weather is only predictable to an extent.  We therefore do not accept cancellations with a 100% refund more than 24 hours in advance due to adverse weather conditions as the weather forecast/conditions may change.

Due to the unpredictability of weather conditions (i.e., severity of a rain storm, predicted duration of rain, etc.) it is difficult to adopt a clear-cut weather cancellation policy.  Blast Off Bouncers LLC reserves the right to determine the weather conditions under which we will cancel and issue a refund of the deposit paid.

Please keep in mind that if you do cancel more than 24 hours in advance and the weather conditions change, we will likely be unable to rent that unit to another party which is the reason why you would forfeit the $50 deposit ($100 deposit if your order is over $400).

Finally, remember that we are in the business of making parties fun.  We do not like cancelling on anyone due to weather or any other reason.  Without rentals and deliveries, it will be impossible for us to stay in business.  It is in our best interest to do the best we can at satisfying our customers while keeping safety as our #1 priority.
